Day 1 - Getting out of Dodge.

As the Bridgeview Harbour Marina season has been wrapping up we have been yearning to get away for some R&R.  The marina is not entirely done but we are done wrapping boats, winterizing engines and have winterized the buildings. There are always a few customers who will call late but they will be dealt with as they come.

Our friends, Paul and Lisa have been camping in the Outer Banks for about two weeks and we have been following them on Facebook, feeling like we are missing the fun.  It’s  a long drive but we decided to go and spend a few days with them and then maybe do some other stuff on our way home next week.

So...I played hockey on Tuesday AM, June outfitted the Serenity Falcon. When I got home I loaded the Scooter/Bicycles and we pointed it south a bit after 12 noon.

We stopped and visited Mom in Ticonderoga, she was in good spirits and was enjoying some time with the pet rabbit they have at Elderwood.

We eventually departed Ticonderoga around 2PM. We debated the route but reluctantly took the I87 to I95 route.  I95 never disappoints...it just sucks.....at 10PM we got a 40Min delay south of DC, it was construction, they took 4 lanes down to 1, what a mess.

Overall we can not complain. We stopped at a Cracker Barrel in Ashland, VA about 00:30 on Wednesday.  From Ticonderoga we were on the road about 10.5 hours, and from home we had traveled about 600 miles. Considering I got up at 04:15 to play hockey, that was enough for one day.

We plan to meet Paul and Lisa at the Oregon Inlet campground today, it is about 200 miles or about 4 hours.

Better finish breakfast, pull up the jacks and get rolling.

  1. I had already cleaned out the camper for its winter hibernation so putting it back together took some time and thinking.. It will be good to get to warmer temps and visit P&L even though the weather this fall has been gorgeous.
